Experimental and Numerical Investigation on Finned Vortex Reducer in a Rotating Cavity with a Radial Inflow

چکیده

In aero-engines, a secondary air system is used to cool the rotor discs and seal cavities between stator parts. The pressure loss caused by bleed can be effectively reduced setting finned vortex reducer. Thus, design optimized researching flow structure of each section in cavity with this study, influence different installation positions reducer on characteristics was investigated through experimental numerical simulation methods, focusing radial inflow system. results indicate that inlet outlet fins affect cavity. aerodynamic parameters (rotational Reynolds number ReΦ mass rate coefficient Cw), together radii fins, Considering swirl ratio β constrained model established, which showed good agreement experimentally measured loss. This reflects impact characteristics.

a study on rate making and required reserves determination in reinsurance market: a simulation

reinsurance is widely recognized as an important instrument in the capital management of an insurance company as well as its risk management tool. this thesis is intended to determine premium rates for different types of reinsurance policies. also, given the fact that the reinsurance coverage of every company depends upon its reserves, so different types of reserves and the method of their calc...

irreversibility analysis and numerical simulation in a finned-tube heat exchanger equipped with block shape vortex generator

in this paper the effect of block shape vortex generators (vgs) on an air-water fin-tube heat exchanger has been studied experimentally using exergy analysis method. also the effect of these vgs on increasing heat transfer rate has been simulated numerically and the results show a good agreement with the experiments. in this research we used a wind tunnel to produce wind flow over heat exchange...

A Numerical Investigation on Aerodynamic Coefficients of Solar Troughs Considering Terrain Effects and Vortex Shedding

Recently, increase in the cost of fossil fuels and taking into consideration the environmental effects of exploiting them, caused many researchers and governments to find some ways to make use of renewable energies more cost-effectively. Solar energy is a category of renewable energies which could be harvested via several technologies. One of the most practical methods is using parabolic trough...

Numerical Investigation of Rotating-Stall in a Stage of an Axial Compressor with Two Different Approaches

An unsteady two-dimensional finite-volume solver was developed based on Van Leer’s flux splitting algorithm in conjunction with “Monotonic Upstream Scheme for Conservation Laws (MUSCL)” limiters and the two-layer Baldwin-Lomax turbulence model was also implemented. To validate the solver, two test cases were prepared and the computed results had good agreements with reference data. The rotating...

Quantitative experimental and numerical investigation of a vortex ring impinging on a wall

A joint experimental and computational methodology is developed and applied to investigate a vortex ring impinging normally on a wall. The method uses digital particle image velocimetry to make planar flow measurements, which are then used to initialize a second-order finite difference calculation. The experiment and the simulation are compared at later times and agree extremely well. The ring ...
